The Species

The humans are what one would call normal. They are caught in the middle of a raging war against the vampire hunters and the vampires themselves. Most of these mortals are oblivious to the dangers that lurk around them and more still fall victim to the everlasting thirst of the creatures who roam the night. Many of these humans are born as slaves to the higher hierarchy of Originals and are forced to live a life of servitude in which they offer up their life essence to their masters.

Strengths: Regenerates blood very fast, more so than the vampire hunters and definitely more so than vampires who cannot create any of their own blood. Has a soul in tact.

Weaknesses: Overall the humans aren’t very strong. They have no upper hand when it comes to fighting vampires and have no choice but to relent to their tyranny. If a fight should occur between a human and a vampire, the human will most probably die. If death does not occur then the human will have multiple fractures and bruises and cuts.

The vampires as they are known to this day are the children of the originals. They are half human and half vampire and cannot sustain themselves without the life essence of other living creatures. They are unable to create children of their own since their venom isn’t powerful enough. They look like normal humans to a certain extent and have retractable fangs. Their skin is always deathly pale though and they have dark rings around their eyes which to the naked eye look like a bad case of insomnia. Vampires can easily be killed if one possess adequate knowledge about these demons. If a human is bitten the vampire’s venom causes severe pain but no long term effects.

Strengths: Vampires are more powerful than humans and have overall heightened senses. They have the ability to disappear for short periods of time. They are very fast and have the ability to see clearly in complete darkness.

Weaknesses: Their sense of touch dies away when they are reborn. They are very sensitive to light and cannot spend much time in the sun. They have no reflection in a mirror which is a dead give away. They are extremely sensitive to silver and contact with their skin causes a great deal of pain as well as decay.

The Lamia Venator are an elite group of humans who have developed themselves mentally and physically over the eras. They have grown alongside the vampires, offering resistance through their generations for as long as they could remember. They are an ancient enemy of the demons who walk this earth and are skilled adequately to take out the strongest of these beasts. Only a select few become a part of this organization every year and their training is brutal and intense. This group of people know just about everything there is to know about the creatures of the dark and are able to destroy many of them. They are usually built very powerfully but other than muscle mass they look exactly like normal humans. They wear specific rings upon their middle fingers of their right hands to signify that they belong to this elite group.

Strengths: They are able to destroy vampires through the knowledge they have collected across the eras. They are familiar with every weakness a vampire has and exploits these weaknesses to their own advantage. They are stronger than average and have powerful weapons they carry with them at all times. Cannot be turned into a vampire by an original.

Weaknesses: Their power lies in their long hair and when cut they lose a considerable amount of their strength. They can be killed the traditional way, not through a vampire bite.

The originals are the fathers and mothers of the vampires that roam the Earth today. They themselves came to be through unspeakable acts of horror that had been committed to them in the hours before their deaths. They had suffered such extreme trauma that their souls refused to leave their bodies. Their own souls were corrupted and became wicked and broken because of what had been done to them. The horror had been so great that their bodies changed physically as well. After having died they were no longer able to sustain themselves with their own blood and had to turn to other living creatures for a life essence they could steal. For millennia they lived like animals and savages but over the eras their intelligence grew to surpass that of the humans’. They invented ways to live inconspicuously so they could avoid the Lamia Venator and now as the sixteenth century breaks forth like a new dawn the originals are all in high places of power.

Strengths: The originals are the strongest of all the vampires, stronger than the Lamia Venator and ruler over the slaves they possess. They do not need any real fangs and have normal looking teeth. Their skin is pale white but not as cold as the vampires. They do not have darker circles around their eyes like the vampires have but rather have blackened finger nails which are easily covered with the right ingredients. Their senses are fully heightened and their sense of touch is still in tact.

Weaknesses: The originals have few weaknesses. They are not sensitive to silver at all. They do not have any reflection greeting them in a mirror and they are sensitive to memories only. When invoked, a memory of their previous life can cripple an original long enough so you can escape with your life. But having lived six thousand years ago, these memories aren’t all that easy to come by.
